Privacy Policy
Fairway Forecast Pro ("the App", "we", "us") is operated by John Volpe. This Privacy Policy explains what information the App handles, how it is used, and the choices available to you. The App is designed to collect as little personal information as possible — most data stays on your device.
Information We Handle
Course library and preferences
When you add a golf course to your library, mark a home course, or save a favorite, that information is stored locally on your device using iOS standard storage. We do not transmit this information to our servers.
Location
The App requests permission to access your device location to find nearby golf courses and provide weather forecasts for your current location. Location data is processed on-device. Your latitude and longitude are sent to Apple's WeatherKit service to retrieve forecasts; Apple's handling of that data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. You can deny or revoke location permission at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services.
Subscriptions and payments
The App offers an optional Pro subscription processed exclusively through Apple's In-App Purchase system. We do not see, collect, or store your payment information. Apple may share aggregate, anonymized purchase data with us through App Store Connect.
Notifications
If you grant permission, the App schedules local notifications on your device — weekend outlooks, window-opening alerts, and tee-time reminders. These are generated on-device and do not transmit data to us. You can disable notifications at any time in iOS Settings → Notifications → Fairway Forecast.
Weather data
Weather forecasts are powered by Apple WeatherKit. When you view a forecast, the App sends the latitude and longitude of the selected course (or your current location) to Apple to retrieve weather data. Apple handles this data per their privacy policy linked above.
What We Do Not Do
- We do not run third-party analytics SDKs (no Firebase, Mixpanel, Segment, or similar).
- We do not run third-party advertising SDKs.
- We do not collect your name, email address, or phone number from within the App.
- We do not sell, rent, or trade your data.
- We do not create user profiles for advertising purposes.
Children's Privacy
The App is rated 4+ and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to remove that information.
Your Choices
- Location: Manage in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Fairway Forecast.
- Notifications: Manage in iOS Settings → Notifications → Fairway Forecast.
- Subscription: Manage or cancel in iOS Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions.
- Data deletion: All locally stored data is removed when you delete the App from your device.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date above reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be communicated in-app or on this page.
